Pattern of Leptin Secretion and Oxidative Markers in Heat-Stressed Pigeons
نویسنده
چکیده
The effect of heat stress on oxidative stress was studied in pigeons. Pigeons were either kept at thermo neutral room at 22 C, 24 hours/day or heat stress room at 34 C for 8 hours/day followed by 22 C for o o o the rest of the day during the 40 days experiment. Increased heterophils: lymphocyte ratio was evident indicating stress in pigeons. Parallel increase in leptin, metabolites and oxidative markers was observed suggesting a modulating role of leptin during oxidative stress in pigeons.

Evaluation of Diabetogenic Mechanism of High Fat Diet in Combination with Arsenic Exposure in Male Mice
Obesity is a main reason of type 2 diabetes and also chronic exposure to arsenic (As)can produce diabetic symptoms. In previous studies, the association between high-fat dietand arsenic in the incidence of diabetes was found, but the role of beta cells activity, livermitochondrial oxidative stress, and hepatic enzymes (leptin, adiponectin and beta amylase)was unclear. Thus, present study was co...

متن کاملLeptin in Breast Cancer: Its Relationship with Insulin, Estrogens and Oxidative Stress
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women. Several risk factors such as age, family history of breast cancer, marital status, early menarche and late menopause are related to breast cancer. Obesity is also a main health problem associated with breast cancer incidence and subsequent mortality. Association between obesity and expansion of breast cancer may be due to excessive sex steroid h...
متن کاملHypoinsulinemia induction and its effects on leptin secretion, blood and urine metabolites, feeding pattern and internal organs indices in sheep
Introduction: Insulin role and importance are different from that of monogastric. In this study, permanent hypoinsulinemia with various severities was induced using doses 0, 25, 50 and 75 mg/kg BW of streptozotocin (STZ) in sheep. Materials and methods: Twenty male lambs were divided into four treatment groups and maintained individually. Treatments were single, intravenous injection of doses ...

This study demonstrates the changes in six different pathophysiological parameters such as body weight, body temperature, fecal pellet count, blood-brain barrier (BBB) permeability, plasma corticosterone level and emergence of hemorrhagic peptic ulcer spots due to exposure to high environmental heat in three different age groups of freely moving rats. Methods: Each age group of rats was sub di...
